What is Scouting?

Scouts Australia is a multicultural, non-political and non-denominational, uniformed youth organisation. Young people (boys and girls) can join at any age between 6 years and 26 years. Young people in Scouts enjoy an exciting program aimed to assist them with their physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual growth.

Scouting's unique and proven methods include:

  • A wide range of attractive, constructive and challenging activities geared to specific age groups to allow for the progressive development of young people

  • Opportunities for leadership and responsibility, based on the developmental capabilities of specific age ranges

  • Learning by doing

  • Activities in small groups

  • Recognition of individual achievements

  • Commitment to a positive code for living

Scouting helps young people to meet and conquer challenges and enables them to develop a sense of personal self worth and confidence

Investment in the future!

Scouting is helping young people to be prepared to take a positive place in the rapidly developing global society of tomorrow. Scouting has a growing world-wide membership of 25 million young people in more than 160 countries.

All activities are under the supervision of professionally trained adults who care about the positive development of young people and their role in Australia's future. The Scout Association is committed to the protection of children and was the first youth organisation to have a policy requiring that all adult Leaders undergo a Police check and clearance prior to being accepted as a Leader in Scouting.
